What Happens in the Shed
Men’s Sheds is a grassroots mens-health movement grounded in the spirit of camaraderie and powered by community. Here in Edmonton, we have active men’s sheds around the city, and more to come.
While we help build and promote Edmonton’s men’s sheds, the members decide what happens in a shed. Some shedders like to hang out and watch hockey, while others like to tinker around with tools.
Each shed is a little different. But some things always stay the same:
– Men’s sheds are casual, positive spaces
– Men’s sheds are free to join
– You can do as you please (as long you’re respectful)

The Virtual Shed Plan
COMING SOON
While COVID-19 has changed the way we gather, we are still committed to providing digital sheds for isolated men to connect and socialize. The pandemic has given us the opportunity to develop a Virtual Shed that provides a Shed experience online! The planning is underway, advisors are being consulted and input is being sought from other Sectors who provide online experiences.
Once we are ready to test the new version of a Virtual Shed the information will be posted on the Facebook page.
In the meantime the regular online Shed will continue Friday gatherings.

COVID-19 Plan
While COVID-19 has changed the way we gather, we are still committed to providing digital sheds for men to connect and socialize. The pandemic has forced us to move most of our in-person gatherings online, which has its advantages. Online sheds are easy to join, plus you don’t have to worry about commuting. Stay for five minutes or an hour. It’s up to you.
Once it’s safe to do so, we’ll be back in the sheds in no time.

FAQs
What is a Men’s Shed?
A men’s shed is a relaxed and inclusive place share stories and form friendships. A place to do that thing you’ve always wanted to do—or, do nothing at all. Forget itineraries and agendas. A men’s shed is whatever its members want it to be.
Is it an actual shed?
Not necessarily. The term “shed” is shorthand for any designated spot where we get together. It could be a community hall or even an online meeting.
What’s a shedder?
A shedder is a nickname for fellow shed members.
What happens in a men’s shed?
Lots of things. Some guys like woodworking or watching hockey. Other guys enjoy playing cards, tinkering or just having a laugh. We keep things casual and fun. No agendas here.
Does it cost anything?
Nope. It doesn’t cost you a dime.
Who can become a shedder?
All men. Men’s Sheds is a men’s health movement, so while our spaces are designed for men, we welcome anyone who wants to hang out.
